Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) is a developmental difficulty that affects 7% of school-age children.

Children with DLD experience great difficulties both with development and understanding of language. At the same time, many of these children face additional difficulties that affect their school performance and areas of their social and emotional development, both during childhood and adolescence.

Unlike dyslexia and autism, there is limited public knowledge about DLD. However, over the last 20 years there has been a growing interest in the study of DLDt. Meanwhile, in Greece so far there are few published studies that illustrate the nature of these difficulties.

The purpose of this website, which was created as part of a research collaborative program between the School of Education, University of Roehampton and the Faculty of Philosophy, Education and Psychology, University of Athens, is to contribute:

to a better understanding of the difficulties that characterize children with DLD by gathering research data in Greece on the views of professionals and parents of children with these difficulties.
to the organization of seminars and conferences for teachers, parents, speech and language therapists, psychologists and other professionals in order to disseminate the latest research findings in the field.
